All this ‘Andrew came out’ rubbish is making me giggle.
He didn’t ‘come out’ he’s always been openly gay just low-key. He even says in the interview that although he’s private, hes NOT secretive. Its something about him that’s been speculated and questioned for years. When a fan asked him if he was gay his response was something along the lines of “If it doesn’t change the way you feel about me then why does it matter?”
As a queer kid myself (and speaking only for myself) what I want most is to be equal with my neighbor, not to be a discussion point, and from the sound of the interview some of whats been going on in this tag is the exact opposite of what he wants.

BBC Sherlock - Favourite Characters - James Moriarty
“Mercifully, these days people don’t see being gay as a character flaw. But nor is it a virtue, like kindness. Or a talent, like playing the banjo. It’s just a fact. Of course, it’s part of my make-up, but I don’t want to trade on it. I am a private person; I think that’s important if you’re an actor. But there’s a difference between privacy and secrecy, and I’m not a secretive person. Really I just want to get on with my job, which is to pretend to be lots of different people. Simple as that.” (x)
